Michael Donnelly is the leading authority on Scottish stained glass of the 19th and early 20th centuries. From 1972 to 1990 he was Assistant Curator of the People's Palace Museum in Glasgow, where he initiated an intensive programme of research into Glasgow's pivotal role in stained-glass manufacture. He conducted a rescue programme, salvaging glass threatened by demolition and neglect, and built up a significant public collection. Since then he has worked as Project Officer with Dunfermline Heritage Trust and on a number of restoration and preservation projects.
Michael is currently working on a biography of the Scottish designer Daniel Cottier and continuing his programme of research and publication of Scottish stained glass, begun with Glasgow Stained Glass and continuing with Scotland's Stained Glass - Making The Colours Sing.
